Every MegaMods controller ships with a hardware and mod-chip warranty. Here's exactly what's covered, what's not, and how to file a claim.
What's covered
- Mod chip — 1-year warranty against manufacturing defects, firmware issues, and electrical failure under normal use.
- Sony / Microsoft hardware — 90-day warranty against manufacturing defects on the underlying DualSense, DualShock 4, or Xbox controller, separate from and in addition to any Sony/Microsoft factory warranty.
- Back paddles & hair triggers (on custom builds with these add-ons) — 1-year warranty on the paddle mechanism and trigger stops.
- Paint and cosmetic finishes — 60-day warranty against peeling, flaking, or manufacturing defects. Normal wear and fading from use are not covered.
What's not covered
The warranty does not cover damage from:
- Physical damage — drops, impacts, stepping on the controller, pet chewing, cracked shells.
- Water damage — spills, moisture, humidity, submersion.
- Stick drift caused by extended play (sticks are consumables; we'll quote a paid replacement).
- Unauthorized modification — disassembly, aftermarket parts, soldering, or installation of third-party mod chips.
- Normal wear — worn thumbstick caps, scuffed shells, faded RGB LEDs after 2+ years.
- Loss or theft.
- Console-side software issues — if your PS5 or Xbox has a firmware bug that causes pairing issues, that's not something we can fix on our end.
How to file a warranty claim
- Email warranty@megamods.net with your order number, a description of the issue, and photos or a short video demonstrating the problem.
- Our tech team will reply within 1 business day. Most issues we can resolve via a profile reset or firmware update pushed through USB — no return required.
- If the issue needs in-shop inspection, we'll email you a prepaid return shipping label and an RA (return authorization) number.
- Ship the controller in its original packaging with the RA number clearly written on the outside. Include a copy of the warranty email thread.
Repair or replace
Once we receive and inspect your controller:
- If repair is possible, we'll fix and return the original controller within 5–7 business days of receipt.
- If repair is not possible (e.g., mainboard failure), we'll ship a replacement controller of the same model and configuration. Replacement controllers include a new 90-day hardware warranty and inherit the remaining mod-chip warranty from the original.
- If you prefer a refund over a replacement and the controller is within 60 days of purchase, we can refund the full purchase price to the original payment method.
Shipping for warranty claims
- US customers — we pay both inbound and outbound shipping on all approved warranty claims.
- International customers — we pay outbound return shipping (from us back to you). You're responsible for shipping the controller to us, plus any customs duties and import fees.
Warranty exclusions
The warranty is voided if:
- The controller has been opened or tampered with by anyone other than MegaMods (we use tamper-evident stickers on the shell seams).
- The controller has been sold or transferred to a third party (warranty is non-transferable).
- The serial number or warranty label has been removed or altered.
- The controller was purchased from a third-party reseller rather than megamods.net (we cannot verify authenticity of resold units).
Non-warranty repairs
If your claim falls outside the warranty, we still offer paid repair services. Email us and we'll quote a fixed price for common issues (stick replacement: $25, trigger replacement: $20, full re-paint: $80, mod-chip re-flash: free).
