A second per mag, every mag, every game

Fast Reload controller mod — cancel the animation

Fast Reload swap-cancels the reload animation at the exact frame the magazine seats — before the finger-back-on-trigger animation plays. You're shooting again while everyone else is still watching their character fumble with a mag. Ships on every MegaMods controller, tuned per weapon.

What is the Fast Reload mod?

The unsexy mod that wins more fights than any other. Fast Reload turns your reload from "exposed for 2 seconds" into "exposed for a blink."

Fast Reload is a timing mod that cancels the reload animation at the exact frame the magazine seats in the weapon — the moment when the game internally flags "weapon reloaded, ready to fire." In every modern FPS, the reload animation is padded: the mag clicks in at roughly 60–70% through the visible animation, but the animation continues for another 300–1000ms while your character chambers the round, taps the mag, and returns to ADS. During that padding you can already fire — the game just hasn't made it obvious yet.

The technique: swap-cancel

Experienced console players have been "reload canceling" since the genre existed — you press reload, wait for the mag to click, then quickly swap weapons and back. The weapon-swap interrupts the animation, and when you swap back the gun is already loaded with the round chambered. It saves ~800ms on every reload. Done manually, the timing has a 150–200ms sweet spot, and most players miss it half the time. The Fast Reload mod does it frame-perfect on every single reload.

How the chip times it

When you press the reload button (Square/X/B depending on platform), the chip begins a tuned countdown for the current weapon. At the exact millisecond the mag seats — it's different per weapon — the chip fires a fast weapon-swap-then-swap-back sequence:

  • t = 0ms — You press reload. Chip notes the weapon and starts the timer.
  • t = 1200ms (example, R-301 in Apex) — The mag seats internally. Chip sends weapon-swap input (triangle/Y).
  • t = 1280ms — Chip sends weapon-swap-back input.
  • t = 1300ms — You're holding your loaded R-301 in ADS, ready to fire. The full animation would've kept you vulnerable until 1850ms.

The saving: ~550ms per reload on the R-301, over a full second on the Longbow, nearly two full seconds on the LSTAR. Multiply that across a long ranked game and it's the equivalent of having an extra mag per fight.

Per-weapon tuning

Each weapon has its own mag-seat frame. The chip stores tuned intervals for 100+ weapons across supported games and auto-loads the right interval based on your active game profile. Generic "fast reload" chips use one timing, which works on about 20% of weapons and misfires on the rest. Our chip is individually tuned — and updated when game patches change reload timings.

Where Fast Reload matters most

Every weapon benefits, but some games and weapons have particularly punishing stock reloads where the mod shines.

Apex Legends

LSTAR & Devotion

Apex's longest reloads — the LSTAR takes nearly 3s. Fast Reload cuts off the last 1.5s, turning a vulnerability into a near-instant refresh.

Apex Legends

R-301 & Flatline

Meta ARs where every engagement is close-range. Shaving 500ms off each reload across a ranked game is worth 3–4 fights.

PUBG

M16A4, Beryl, AK

PUBG reloads are punishingly long — up to 3.5s for the AKM. Fast Reload makes them feel like Call of Duty reloads (sub-2 seconds).

Battlefield

LMGs & Support weapons

BF's support class is defined by huge mag sizes and painful reloads. Fast Reload keeps you suppressing without a 4-second window of vulnerability.

Call of Duty

Warzone Pump Shotguns

Pump-action reloads shell-by-shell are hellish. Fast Reload cancels after the second shell loads, letting you push with a half-full mag instead of waiting for a full stack.

Rainbow 6 Siege

DMRs & snipers

Siege DMR reloads are 2.5+ seconds. Fast Reload shaves a second — essential for aggressive Ash/Glaz plays where you need to re-peek quickly.

Fortnite

AR & SMG reloads

Fortnite's AR reload is mid-length but often happens mid-build-fight. Fast Reload gets you back to spraying before your opponent finishes their edit.

GTA Online

Heist weapons

On Cayo Perico, seconds count. Fast Reload on heist-loadout weapons (Carbine Rifle, Combat MG) means you blast through guard checkpoints twice as fast.

The Finals

AKM & heavy weapons

The Finals' heavy class has extended reloads balanced around stay-and-cover tactics. Fast Reload flips the tradeoff — mobility plus firepower.

Why Fast Reload wins more fights than you'd think

A single second doesn't sound like much — until you realize most shooter fights last under three seconds.

Instant re-engagement

Reload, push the same angle, catch the enemy reloading or repositioning. The saved second is almost always the window they were counting on.

No detection risk

The chip sends valid weapon-swap inputs at a tuned time. Anti-cheat can't see timing at millisecond precision inside a controller. Zero bans in 50,000+ units shipped.

Stacks with every weapon

Not just for ARs — pistols, SMGs, LMGs, DMRs, snipers all benefit. The chip's timing profile covers your entire loadout, not just your primary.

Automatic, invisible

No button combos to remember mid-fight — press reload like you always do, the chip cancels at the right frame. Feels completely natural after one match.

Settings & edge cases

Some situations call for partial reloads, others for full animation (like swapping to a secondary). The chip handles both.

Empty-mag vs tactical-reload timing

Most games have two reload animations: tactical reload (partial mag, faster, mag-in-mag-out) and empty reload (chamber a round, longer animation). Fast Reload auto-detects which one is playing by tracking your ammo count and applies the correct interval. Empty reloads save more time; tactical reloads save less but still measurable.

Partial-mag swap prevention

If you swap weapons manually during a reload, the chip disengages the auto-cancel so you don't double-swap. Press reload, change your mind, swap to pistol — no interference.

Per-game hotkey handling

  • Console-standard — Uses the default game swap-weapon button (Triangle/Y) for the cancel.
  • Custom remaps — If you've swapped weapon-swap to a back paddle via our Button Remapping mod, Fast Reload auto-uses the remapped button.
  • Games without weapon-swap — Some games (Hunt: Showdown, Tarkov) don't allow mid-reload weapon-swap. Fast Reload falls back to the game's native cancel input (often melee or jump).

Disable per-weapon

Occasionally you want the full animation — for example, on a pistol you want to chamber a round for a specific callout. The chip lets you blacklist specific weapons from Fast Reload via button combo. Useful for competitive-rulesets or weapon-specific plays.

Fast Reload FAQ

Questions players ask before the first modded controller lands in their hands.

Is Fast Reload actually a mod, or just a trick?
Both. The underlying technique (weapon-swap cancel) is a skilled player trick that's been around since COD 4. The mod automates the timing so it's frame-perfect on every reload — what a pro does 70% of the time, the chip does 100% of the time. You could argue it's "assistance" rather than a traditional mod, but the effect is identical: always-perfect reload cancels.
Will anti-cheat detect Fast Reload?
No. The chip sends two normal button inputs (weapon-swap, then swap-back) at a specific interval. Ricochet, BattlEye, EAC, Vanguard, and FairFight all run on the game side — they see two valid button events at plausible human timings. Nothing to flag. Zero Fast Reload bans across 50,000+ units shipped.
Does it work on all weapons or just ARs?
Every weapon class — pistols, SMGs, ARs, LMGs, DMRs, snipers, shotguns. The chip has 100+ weapon-specific intervals and auto-loads the right one based on what you're holding. Pump shotguns (shell-by-shell) are the exception: Fast Reload stops cancels you out of the loading loop, so pair it with our shotgun-specific partial-reload mode.
What happens if I'm mid-push and need to reload quickly?
That's exactly when Fast Reload shines. Because the cancel happens at the exact frame the mag seats, you're back to ADS/firing as fast as mechanically possible — usually 500–1000ms faster than a clean reload. No mental countdown, no button timing. Just press reload and start firing again when you round the corner.
Does Fast Reload mess up my reload animation visually?
To you, yes — the animation cuts abruptly and your weapon pops back into ADS. It looks like any skilled manual reload cancel. To enemies (in killcam or replay), your reload just looks fast. There's no visual artifact that screams "mod."
Is Fast Reload legal in Ranked / Competitive modes?
Most games technically prohibit "third-party hardware that automates inputs" in their ToS — Fast Reload included. In practice there's no detection and zero enforcement for console controllers. For paid tournaments or LAN play where peripherals are inspected, the two-button toggle disables the entire mod chip instantly.
Does the chip update when games change reload timings?
Yes, remotely. When Apex buffs the LSTAR reload, or COD adjusts the AR reload animation in a season patch, our chip's per-weapon intervals get updated within days. Updates are pushed through the controller's USB connection — no firmware software, no return shipping.
Available on PS5, PS4 and Xbox One?
Yes — same chip, same timing library, same per-game profiles on all three platforms. Modded DualSense, DualShock 4, and Xbox One controllers all ship with Fast Reload tuned identically.
