Drop Shot controller mod — shoot as you hit the floor
Drop Shot drops you prone the instant you pull the trigger. Your enemy's crosshair is pointed at your chest; you're already firing from the ground. It's the oldest hard-counter in competitive FPS, automated and frame-perfect on every MegaMods controller.
What is the Drop Shot mod?
The mod that turns every 1v1 from a race to the headshot into a race to the floor. Drop Shot breaks aim, shifts hitboxes, and wins fights your aim had no business winning.
Drop Shot is a combo mod that presses the prone button (typically clicking the right stick, or Circle/B depending on the game's button layout) at the exact moment you pull the trigger. The result: the moment you start firing, your character dives to the ground. Enemies aiming at your chest are suddenly aiming above your head, and you're already returning fire from a much smaller hitbox.
Why it wins gunfights you'd otherwise lose
In most shooters, your hitbox is roughly 70–90cm wide standing, dropping to 30–40cm tall when prone. That's half the target area for the same number of shots to land. Combine that with the fact that the enemy's crosshair was already placed for a standing target — their first three bullets likely miss entirely — and Drop Shot effectively doubles your TTK advantage in a duel.
The maths of a standing-vs-prone duel heavily favor the prone player: you fire, your enemy's tracking is broken, you keep firing while they re-aim downward, and even when they do re-aim, they're shooting at a smaller target. Competitive console pros have used Drop Shot manually since COD 4 — the mod just does the button-press timing perfectly every time.
How the chip times it
When you pull the fire trigger (R2/RT), the chip simultaneously sends a "prone" button input on the same frame. Because both signals arrive at the console in the same HID packet, the game processes them as truly simultaneous — the firing animation starts and the prone transition starts in the same tick. This is faster than a human can possibly coordinate (manual drop shots average 150–200ms of mistiming between trigger and prone, enough for an enemy to still land their burst).
Per-game input mapping
Prone is mapped differently per game. COD uses R3 (right stick click); Apex uses crouch with a downward stick motion then prone; Battlefield lets you set it to a dedicated button. Our chip reads your game profile and sends the correct prone signal automatically when the trigger fires. If you're using a custom button layout, the mod auto-detects through its controller-side remap layer and stays accurate.
Where Drop Shot wins fights
Any fight where the enemy's aim is committed to a standing target. The mod is universal across games, but some situations are especially brutal.
Mid-range AR duels
The classic Drop Shot usage. Enemy starts tracking you at chest height with their M4/MCW; you dive, crosshair flies above your head, you win the exchange.
Gas-mask interrupts
When an enemy catches you mid-plate or mid-mask, Drop Shot lets you respond without a full stand-up-aim-fire cycle. Immediate return fire from a prone position.
Breakthrough chokepoints
BF's cap points are meat grinders. Drop Shot breaks the enemy's spray pattern when you round a corner into their angle.
Rooftop dives
On maps like Kaleidoscope or Hourglass, prone-diving from elevated positions lets you open up from cover without exposing your upper body.
Zone-edge 1v1s
Caught in the open during a zone rotation? Drop Shot + R-301 melt is a legitimate escape against a single enemy pursuer.
Hard-breach entries
Break a wall, pop out, drop — defenders aim at headline height. Huge on Ash, Sledge, and Zofia entry plays.
Third-party defense
When a third party lands on your duel, Drop Shot lets you engage the new threat from a tiny hitbox while your squadmate wipes the original.
Open-ground peeks
Zero Build denies you wall cover. Drop Shot gives you a substitute — a fast way to make yourself hard to hit without needing builds.
Heist interrupts
Cayo Perico guards patrolling? Drop them with AP Pistol rapid fire while diving prone to avoid return fire. Essential for "never-lost-health" heist runs.
Why Drop Shot wins the meta fight
Other mods speed up your inputs. Drop Shot changes the physics of a duel by shifting your hitbox mid-fire.
Breaks enemy aim
The enemy's tracking is now wrong. They have to drag their crosshair downward to recover, which costs 200–400ms — the exact window where you should be winning.
Smaller hitbox
Prone cuts your target area roughly in half. Even perfect tracking lands fewer shots on a prone player than a standing one.
Works with any weapon
Drop Shot triggers on any fire input — ARs, SMGs, snipers, shotguns. Stacks seamlessly with Rapid Fire, Quick Scope, and Auto Aim.
Instant toggle-off
Don't want to drop every time you shoot? Two-button combo disables the mod. Re-enable when the fights get tight.
Settings & behavior modes
A smart Drop Shot doesn't drop every single time you shoot — that'd be terrible in a long engagement. Our chip has modes for when it engages.
Three engagement modes
- On-tap — Drop Shot triggers only when you tap the fire trigger (single shot). Holding fire for sustained engagement doesn't trigger a drop. Good for AR/SMG play where you don't want to drop during every mag dump.
- On-first-shot — Drops on the first shot of any trigger pull, then stays prone until you release the trigger. Perfect for burst engagements where you want to commit to the ground for the duration of the fight.
- Always-on — Drops every time you fire, regardless of pattern. Maximum duel-winning, minimum mobility. Mainly useful in close-range SMG meta.
Cooldown between drops
To prevent awkward "spam prone" behavior when you're in an extended firefight, the chip enforces a 1.5-second cooldown between drops by default. After you drop, you stay prone until you stop firing; when you stand back up and re-engage, the next drop won't trigger for 1.5s. Adjustable between 0s and 3s via button combo.
Stance auto-reset
By default, when you release the fire trigger, the chip sends a stand-up input to return you to standing stance. You can disable this if you prefer to control your stance manually post-drop — some Siege and BF players prefer to crawl to cover after a drop rather than stand immediately.
